This week, from the shelves of Neill Public Library: The Black Powder War, by Naomi Novik. This is the last book of a series, with vague mention made on the author's website to an as-yet-unnamed fourth book. The first of the trio, His Majesty's Dragon, I thought very good. The punctuation and grammar took a dive in the second book and the story wasn't as gripping in the third, but I have enjoyed them. The Well of Lost Plots: A Thursday Next Novel, by Jasper Fforde. This is also from a series, which I have liked very much. I haven't gotten very far in yet, but it looks like it will be just as good as the others. If anyone has read this series without having read the classics they draw on, please let me know what you thought.
