High Five, by Janet Evanovich. This hardly deserves its own post, but I wanted to say before I forgot again what these reminded of. In these books, a few months (sometimes it seems like as many as 6 or so) go by between the end of one book and the beginning of another, with seemingly nothing going on, and then all the action that happens in the book takes place in about a week. I read another book series that did this as well, and it was driving me crazy because I couldn't remember which one, but it came to me in my sleep! I'm pretty sure I was thinking of the Betsy the Vampire Queen series by MaryJanice Davidson. Also, there weren't any sex scenes in this installment, although not for lack of the main character trying. Still, good job to the author for valuing her characters' actual relationships over their interpersonal relationships.
